Mothra band recording progress

Recording is ticking along nicely when time is found amongst all band members’ busy schedules. Guitars will be tracked soon with this highly respected instrument, and more work on the video will commence next month in Belgium. We also have a show coming up at the Kings Arms June 17, seems like ages since we played!

Mothra – ‘Awake the Machine’ first ever performance (Auckland experimental metal)

Here’s some footage taken from our show at the Kings Arms the other week. It’s a new track (hence a bit sketchy in parts) that was a long time in the making, ‘Awake the Machine’. It will be recorded somewhere down the track but not on the first release, there are others waiting in line. We are on a roll now with the recording prep, drum tracking will commence soon.

モスラ MOTHRA update (experimental psychedelic rock/metal)

A big thanks to everyone who attended the show last night, great turnout for a Thursday night. We got through the new track relatively unscathed, feels good to have broken that one in as it was a long time in the making. A preview of our upcoming music video has been sent through to us from our man Shaun Leyden in Europe from ‘Mintamatics’, and its looking f&%$#g awesome. We should have some more shows lined up soon. Doing a spot of demo recording next week, also a new potential vocalist in the works. But we’ll keep that quiet for now shall we. Cheers Mothra

Mothra band – vocalist didn’t last long.

Well, our so called promising vocalist has abruptly thrown in the towel after only two practices. Despite writing strong vocals to one song, he decided he couldn’t write to our music due to the odd time and experimental elements, even suggested we simplify things and make it more vocal friendly. Fair enough I guess but doing that would defeat the purpose of what we are about, so he obviously missed the point. Mothra thrives on experimentation and progressive songwritng. Pushing new ideas and creating challenging yet natural music for us and whoever wants to listen is what we are about. A shame because we felt he had the dynamics as a singer we were looking for. Next please.
