The album is nearing completion, distribution is in place. First offering will be a single/video which will be available digitally and on a very limited 7″ run. The album will be available on double LP, CD, and digitally, dates coming soon. We are playing this Saturday Sep 27th with the Heavy Metal Ninjas before they head off to the Euroblast Fest in Germany. Here is all the info you need : http://www.undertheradar.co.nz/gig/40739/Heavy-Metal-Ninjas-with-Special-Guests-MOTHRA–iSatellite.utr. It was a real honour to open for Earth and kick around with Dylan Carlson and co recently. Thanks to Mystery Girl for their exceptional work as always.
We’ll be playing a show in a couple of weeks with none other than Lord of Tigers, the reformed Big Punch, and Bridge. At Auckland’s best sounding venue the Kings Arms Tavern, you’d be silly not to attend. https://www.facebook.com/events/665770433481291/
Our debut album is finally mixed, artwork is complete, just the mastering stage remains. A stupendous amount of work from Hugh Allan has been put into this to finally get it done. The 70 minute album will be released on vinyl, CD, and of course digitally. We will also be releasing a single/video from the album on a limited run of 7″s. Stay tuned.
We’ve been a little quiet on the gigging front lately, but that doesn’t mean work has slowed down on the album. All guitars and drums are now recorded, and only a few songs of bass tracking remain. Rough mixes made by the band have been sent to audio engineer Aaron Harris (ISIS, Palms) to keep him up to date and to give him a feel for the album. A big thanks to Connor Mesa for the recording assistance over the last few months, this guy knows what he’s doing. Here is a link to his recording/production company 103 Audio. Another monumental video has also been completed by Shaun Leyden and will coincide with the album release.
We are looking foward to playing shows again, and have been invited to play on Sat July 20th at Auckland’s Kings Arms with some killer local bands. Details for that soon. In the meantime here’s a picture of Mothra guitarist Hugh Allan with one of his biggest inspirations of all time, Adam Jones from Tool. Ridiculously talented as I’m sure you know, and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. The two shows they played in Auckland recently were nothing short of phenomenal, not that you’d expect anything less.
Support Hydra Head Records, help keep them alive.
Greetings, here are a couple of new live tracks from a few weeks back, both these songs will feature on the upcoming debut album. A new limited run of tshirts have just been stocked up, head on over to our merch site and grab one while you can. Also here is a recent TV interview that Hugh and Reuben did on TVNZ’s U live, unfortunately this can only be viewed in NZ for some strange reason, but hopefully it will be uploaded to our youtube channel soon. Progress on the album and video number 2 are coming along nicely.
Our video clip for The Beginning will hit the air waves of NZ TV this week starting with C4’s Fade to Black show, 10 pm Mondays. Juice TV and Triangle will also be playing the clip in the near future. We will be playing a show at the Kings Arms (Auckland) this Friday with Cobra Khan and Cripple Mr Onion. See you there, if you live in Auckland.
