We are pleased to announce we will be opening for the legendary ‘Helmet’ next Saturday December 21st at Auckland’s Galatos. This band is a major influence for us, we grew up listening to albums like Meantime and Betty and it is a real privilege to be sharing the stage with them next weekend. Get your tickets here. In other news the mixing stage of our debut album is well under way, we will be aiming for a release early next year if all goes to plan. Cheers, Mothra.

Mothra band last minute show announcement, and more updates…
Late notice but we’ll be opening for the Heavy Metal Ninjas and New Way Home at Auckland’s Kings Arms tonight, as part of their nationwide tour. We are stoked to be sharing the stage with both these bands. Doors are at 8pm, we’ll hit the stage at 9.
If you can’t make this one be sure to check out our show on the 24th of August with Cobra Khan and Cripple Mr Onion, also at the Kings Arms. If all goes to plan we’ll have a full blown projector running for the first time with imagery from Shaun Leyden, the creator of our debut video ‘The Beginning‘. A new limited run of ‘gas mask’ merch will also be available.
Here is a link to the latest blog post by Aaron Harris which features our debut video amongst other news regarding his new band Palms, the Deftones, Melvins, and other bands he is mixing. http://aaronharris-audio.com/2012/08/02/palms-melvins-deftones-and-more/
And finally, a shot of James laying down some chops.

Mothra progress 2011 (Auckland experimental rock)
Well, it’s been a while since we made a post, but rest assured Mothra has been very busy with recording preparation, video preparation, and deciding on who to mix the record. Someone we hold in very high regard will be working with us, so we are supremely stoked. We haven’t been gigging much of late, one of the band members is having a baby any day now, so we’ll let him get used to his new lifestyle for a’ little while’ before booking anymore shows. We’ve also been working with a new vocalist, and making use of some free recording sessions, testing the waters for sound quality etc. Everything seems to be falling into place. A video/single will be unleashed pretty soon hopefully, followed by the e.p. Thanks for your patience everyone, it will be worth the wait.
