Mothra show coming up.
We’ll be playing a show in a couple of weeks with none other than Lord of Tigers, the reformed Big Punch, and Bridge. At Auckland’s best sounding venue the Kings Arms Tavern, you’d be silly not to attend. https://www.facebook.com/events/665770433481291/

Mothra band : Album update.
Our debut album is finally mixed, artwork is complete, just the mastering stage remains. A stupendous amount of work from Hugh Allan has been put into this to finally get it done. The 70 minute album will be released on vinyl, CD, and of course digitally. We will also be releasing a single/video from the album on a limited run of 7″s. Stay tuned.

Mothraband : Helmet show debrief and happy holidays.
Happy Christmas and holidays to all. Kick back, grab yourself a cold beverage and relax. We had a great time opening for Helmet here in Auckland the other night, absolutely killer set from them (as expected), great bunch of guys. We were pleased with how our set panned out too, getting the visuals happening was a big plus. After a small break we’ll be back into more mixing of the album, we should have a few tasters coming your way fairly soon. In the meantime, here’s a clip of 3107 from the show and a few photos. Enjoy.

Mothra band update May 2013.
We’ve been a little quiet on the gigging front lately, but that doesn’t mean work has slowed down on the album. All guitars and drums are now recorded, and only a few songs of bass tracking remain. Rough mixes made by the band have been sent to audio engineer Aaron Harris (ISIS, Palms) to keep him up to date and to give him a feel for the album. A big thanks to Connor Mesa for the recording assistance over the last few months, this guy knows what he’s doing. Here is a link to his recording/production company 103 Audio. Another monumental video has also been completed by Shaun Leyden and will coincide with the album release.
We are looking foward to playing shows again, and have been invited to play on Sat July 20th at Auckland’s Kings Arms with some killer local bands. Details for that soon. In the meantime here’s a picture of Mothra guitarist Hugh Allan with one of his biggest inspirations of all time, Adam Jones from Tool. Ridiculously talented as I’m sure you know, and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. The two shows they played in Auckland recently were nothing short of phenomenal, not that you’d expect anything less.

RIP Chi Cheng.
We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Chi Cheng, original bassist and founding member of the Deftones. He has no doubt helped to influence countless bands like ourselves since the Deftones began. Farewell Chi, our thoughts go out to your family and friends. Much respect. Mothra.
